CP518B – Final Notice for Unfiled Business Returns

Urgent: Missing Business Tax Return (Final Reminder)

What It Means:

CP518B is a final notice sent to businesses when the IRS has no record of their required tax return, and collection action is imminent. It is sent as a follow-up to previous letters that went unanswered.

Next Steps:

Read your CP518B notice carefully and file the required return(s) by the deadline date. Failure to submit the requested returns may result in the IRS filing a Substitute For Return (SFR) on your behalf.

What you need to do:

  • File a paper return (including all required schedules), using the envelope provided in your CP518B notice, or fax them to 855-800-5944.
  • Complete the enclosed response form and explain:
    • Why you did not file on time, or
    • Why you weren’t required to file, or
    • That you already filed.

If you disagree with the notice, you can contact the IRS at the number listed on your CP518B notice or use the response form provided.
